Wayfair might have a zillion things home (wasn’t that their slogan at one point?), but that still doesn’t mean they have everything for everyone.

If it just so happens that you can’t find what you’re looking for at Wayfair, or perhaps you’re looking to do some price comparison or simply see what else is out there, there are plenty of alternative websites to check out. As a former Wayfair employee I got to know the brand and its competitors pretty well, so I’ve rounded up a few of my go-to sites to shop when I’m looking for a Wayfair alternative.

1. Overstock

In terms of selection and price point, Overstock is probably the most similar company to Wayfair. You’ll find a lot of the same items at Overstock that you will on Wayfair, and usually pricing and availability is similar between the two websites. There are a number of brands that differ between the two sites, so both are worth checking out when you’re shopping.

2. Amazon

Amazon sells everything, including homewares. In addition to furniture from third-party brands, Amazon designs and sells its own furnishings under in-house labels like Amazon Basics, Rivet, and Stone & Beam. The furniture selection at Amazon isn’t quite as large or well-organized as the stock at Wayfair, but you will find an almost-as-large selection of housewares and household items like kitchen utensils, tools, bathroom vanities/mirrors, organization items, and bedding.

3. Birch Lane

Birch Lane is one of Wayfair’s sister websites, i.e. it’s owned by Wayfair. The difference between the two sites is that, while Birch Lane stocks a lot of the same items that Wayfair does, the Birch Lane assortment is more curated. It’s tailored to a traditional, rustic aesthetic (similar to Pottery Barn). Birch Lane also carries some of its own decor that’s exclusive to that site. If you prefer a traditional, farmhouse, or rustic aesthetic but love the Wayfair price point and shopping experience, try Birch Lane.

4. All Modern

Like Birch Lane, All Modern is owned by Wayfair, and is simply a more curated version. However, as its name implied, All Modern furniture and decor shares a modern or contemporary aesthetic. You’ll find small space furniture perfect for city apartments, lots of midcentury pieces, and a trendier feel overall. As with Birch Lane, there is a lot of crossover between Wayfair and All Modern, but All Modern does have some exclusives.

5. Joss & Main

Joss & Main is yet another of Wayfair’s sister sites. While it used to be a flash-sale website, it now has more of an editorial feel, and specializes in selling curated “looks.” You’ll find a lot of the same items you’ll see on Wayfair, but Joss & Main pulls these items together to tell a certain story. Think: “Spring refresh” or “Weekend in Provence.”

6. Perigold

Think of Perigold as Wayfair’s sophisticated older sister. Perigold, which is owned by Wayfair, sells higher-end designer furnishings from brands that are often trade-only (i.e. brands that only interior designers can shop), like EJ Victor, CR Laine, Janus et Cie, and Schumacher. While you might pay a little more than you would at Wayfair, you’ll also get access to options you won’t find anywhere else.

7. Houzz

Houzz started as a site meant to help homeowners find interior designers, architects, and tradespeople to help them with their homes. It added a retail arm a few years back and now sells many of the same brands and products as Wayfair.

8. Build.com

Build.com is like Wayfair for renovation materials. (I got my powder room faucet, above, on Build.com!) If you’re looking for things like ceiling lighting, cabinet hardware, doors, kitchen sinks, faucets, hinges, appliances, or flooring, Build.com is a great resource. The website also sells a smaller selection of furnishings and decor.

9. Home Depot

If you visit a Home Depot store, you won’t find much in the way of furniture or decor. But, if you visit HomeDepot.com, you’ll find everything from sofas and bedding, to table lamps and wall art. The site is a great resource for budget friendly decor options, and it also carries a larger selection from its in-house furnishing brands like Home Decorator’s Collectio.

10. Ashley Furniture

Ashley Furniture is one of the largest furniture retailers in the United States, and you’ll find hundreds of options for sofas, coffee tables and accent furniture on their website. . Unlike Wayfair, everything on the Ashley Furniture site is from the Ashley brand.

11. Target

In addition to the in-house collections Target sells in its stores, like Threshold, Jungalow, and Project 62, the Target website offers housewares from other brands as well. Some of the brands with the biggest presence on Target.com include Inspire Q, Jonathan Y, and Safavieh.

12. Walmart

Like Target, Walmart sells both items from its in-house collections (Mainstays, Better Homes & Gardens), and outside furniture brands. Wayfair has a much better furniture selection that Walmart, but you will find small accent furniture, kitchenware, area rugs, outdoor living essentials, bedding and more on their site.

13. One King’s Lane

One King’s Lane is sort of like a higher-end version of Joss & Main, selling decor in stylized collections like “Montauk Beach House,” or “Chic Chinoiserie”, so you can shop by the style that speaks to you. They also often have one-of-a-kind vintage items, or trade brands at a discount.

14. Kathy Kuo Home

Kathy Kuo is an interior designer, so her online store is packed full of highly-curated items that pass the designer test. Like Wayfair, the store sells furniture and decor from a range of brands, but many of the ones on the site are higher-end designer-loved brands that you won’t find at Wayfair, like Four Hands furniture.

15. H&M Home

H&M’s home line is one of the best out there for on-trend, cute and cheap decor. If you want to update your shelfie with the it-objects everyone has on Instagram, you’ll find an affordable version here. I also love their throw pillow cover collections. They change seasonally and are up-to-the-moment trend wise (and CHEAP! Oh so cheap.)

There you have it! All of the companies like Wayfair I could think of. Happy shopping!
